Palermo - Sicily, Italy

Sumner 2010

sunny 17 °C

In the summer of 2010 me and someone from my family to Palermo which is in Scilly an island of Italy. To get to Palermo there are no direct flight there, so we had to go from London Heathrow to Rome then on to Palermo. The flight was at 0600 and the sleeper train would not get there in time. So we took a train up the afternoon before then stayed in a four star hotel over looking terminal 5 and one of the runways. So we got the "Hoppa bus" to the hotel which only takes 20 mins.

Then the Morning after we woke up at 03:45 (no point of going to sleep!) to get the "hoppa bus" at 04:30 to terminal 4 and then got there at 10 to 0500 only 1 hour before the plane takes off, but that was the first bus. When we got in to the airport it looked like no one was there (As it only was 5 Am), But then to get the out airline check in (the main Italian airline) which was to the right near the bridge to the Hilton. When i was approaching this part of the airport it was full the lines was over crowded as we checked in on line we thought there would be a bag drop desk but there was not. So we started to line up and talked to someone else and the said they were lining up for the 0730 flight to Rome, So someone from the ground crew came to us and said go to the upper class check in (but no upgrade!). So we just made the flight.

When we got to Rome for our connection to Palermo we had around 1 and a half hours and there i realised i left my I pod in the hotel room so we ringed up the hotel and they found it (which was lucky !) and they sent it to us in the UK free of charge! So then we had a nice pizza then got on our short 45 min flight down to Palermo, Scilly.

After a short expensive taxi ride to the hotel ! We found the hotel was in a nice place over looking the beach. We got to the our room which was nice with a window over looking the sea.

We had a nice 5 days, we went to in the central Palermo and had a bus tour on one of the days went to the fishing town of Trapani were there was a cable car so ride on. Then on i think the third day we whent on the 4 hour coach ride to Catania to go to the active volcano "Mount Etna" were there was a cable car to the summit of the mountain.

On the return flight from Rome to Heathrow the flight got in late because we were waiting in the take off line for 30 Mins. So we mist the first Heathrow Express to Paddington but got the next one and still got the same train to the south west.

I hope you enjoyed this travel blogging. Its great if you comment !

India - Mumbai and Goa

Christmas 2009

sunny 32 °C
View India - Goa and Mumbai 2009 on kitstravels's travel map.

In Christmas 2009 me and my family travelled to India for a beach holiday in South Goa.
To get there we flew with a middle eastern airline to Bahrain then on to Mumbai which was a nice flight although seats a little old! Then when getting to the airport outside at the prepaid taxi were we found a taxi which was no bigger then a smart car ! and the two rucksacks we had had to go on the top of the car. Then as we arrived in to Mumbai in the afternoon there are no connection flights down to Goa.

So we got the train down which was a sleeper train and it was a 12 hours night train (but its ok Beacause the train rocks you to sleep !) When we got to the train station in Goa "Margow". We got in to another taxi which took us down to our final destination Agonda which is a small town in the south of Goa.

Then we had a great time on the beach for two and a half weeks. Then on the return we had to do the same travel on the way back but it was great when you get to London Heathrow then have a walm car to get in to.

My Trip to Lake Como in May 2011

Lake Como

sunny 18 °C

Lake Como - 28/05/2011 - 31/05/2011

In May this year I went to Lake Como in Italy with someone from my family. I live in the south of the UK we went from Bristol Airport and travelled with a low cost Irish airline to Milan Bergamo airport. From there we caught the bus for about 5 Mins to Bergamo Train station then took a train for around 45 mins to "Lecco" which is the main town in Lake Como. Then got a Taxi to the hotel (5 Mins but very expensive !) as Italian Taxis are ! We stayed in a four star hotel which was a good deal ! under £70 Per room, per night. It was the american hotel chain "NH" the hotel was called NH Pontivecio.

After unpacking we took a walk around the town to get to know the local area (beacause we were only there for 4 days !). Then we came back to have dinner in the hotel Restaurant witch was realy nice food and a great mood in the place !

The next day we took a boat to Berglgio which was great views on the sea and took around 50 mins. The person i was with was trying to find George Clooneys house Ha Ha. Then we had lunch there and returned to Lecco about five in the evening then tonight we went to have dinner in a Taverna (Cafe) in the town which we went to find it was great food.

The day after was our last full day in Lecco so we went to a cable car which went to the top of a mountain although when we were waiting for the cable car they we fixing it so it sounded a big worrying ! although i did not die on it! On the top of the mountain we had a walk around as we only had 1 hours at the top then had lunch and went back down on the cable car.

The next day we left lecco at 1Pm on the train to Bergamo and got the bus to the airport. But when we got there our flight to delayed ! for about 1 hour so we did not make our Coach connection for the train in Bristol city centre so we got a later train.

I hope you enjoyed, also It would be great if you could comment!
